Resize Video Online
Change the export resolution, or the shape of the frame.
"Resize" usually means one of two things: making the file smaller in pixels so it is easier to send, or changing its shape so it fits where you are posting it. The editor handles both, in different places.
Resolution is an export setting: choose the original size, 1080p, 720p or 480p. Shape is a crop: pick a ratio and drag the frame.
How to resize video online
- 01
Add your video
Drop the file onto the page.
- 02
Set the shape, if it needs changing
Use Crop frame with the 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9 preset to change the aspect ratio.
- 03
Choose the export resolution
Open Export and pick Original, 1080p, 720p or 480p. Presets larger than your source are unavailable — the editor won't upscale.
- 04
Export
Download the resized video.
Which resolution should you pick?
1080p is a safe default for most uploads. 720p roughly halves the pixel count and produces a noticeably smaller file, which helps when a messaging app rejects an attachment. 480p is for when size matters more than detail.
The editor never enlarges footage: a 720p source cannot be exported at 1080p, because the extra pixels would be invented. Presets above your source resolution are shown as unavailable rather than silently upscaling.
Changing the aspect ratio
Resolution presets keep the frame's shape. To change the shape — landscape to vertical, for instance — crop to the ratio you want first. The export then uses the cropped frame rather than padding the original with bars.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize a video online for free?
Yes. Add your video, choose 1080p, 720p or 480p in the export panel and download it. There is no account and no watermark.
Can I enter an exact width and height?
Not currently. Resolution is chosen from presets — Original, 1080p, 720p and 480p — and the frame's shape is set by cropping to a ratio.
Will resizing make my file smaller?
Usually, yes: fewer pixels means fewer bits. Combining a lower resolution with the smaller-file quality setting reduces it further.
